About Law Week

Law Week takes place throughout Australia in May each year to promote greater community understanding of the legal system and justice related issues.

The aims of Law Week are:

  • To improve community understanding of the law, our legal system and justice related issues.
  • To provide to the community information about the services available through legal and justice agencies.
  • To encourage community participation in the process of law reform

Each year a national theme is developed for Law Week. Through collaboration with public and private sector organisations the Law Week Committee of the Institute of Justice Studies develops a comprehensive program of events to inform and educate the community about our legal system.

Law Week events in SA are supported through sponsorship by The Law Foundation of South Australia.
